PETITION TO JOIN THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
The Downtown Poughkeepsie Business Improvement District is now accepting petitions from eligible members interested in running for election to serve on its Board of Directors. This is an opportunity to play a direct role in shaping the future of downtown by guiding investments, supporting local businesses, and helping to advance initiatives that strengthen the district as a vibrant place to live, work, and visit.
Petitions must include 10 signatures from within the same class as the candidate.

WHO’S ELIGIBLE?
There are two classes of BID membership:
Class A – Owners of real property within the BID
Class B – Commercial tenants or residents within the BID
The Board of Directors is comprised of six Class A members and two Class B members, each with equal voting rights. If you own property, operate a business, or reside within the DTPK District Boundaries you are eligible to serve as a member of your class.
TERM OF SERVICE
Board members are elected by members of their respective class and serve three-year terms. Members may serve up to two consecutive terms.
ELECTION TIMELINE
All petitions must be submitted via email at dtpkbid@gmail.com. Petitioning closes at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 22. The ballot of eligible candidates for election will be finalized no later than Monday, June 1. Ballots will be distributed to all eligible voting members via email or traditional mail no less than 10 days prior to the BID Annual Meeting on Wednesday, June 24. Ballots must be returned by mail, or email by Tuesday, June 23, or in person at the annual meeting on Wednesday, June 24.
